We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a new on-going fundraising program for Sacred Heart. It’s called “SCRIP”, and it’s a fundraising program that works while you shop.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip are gift certificates or gift cards from participating local and national retailers. They’re the same gift certificates or gift cards that you buy at the store. Over 300 popular local and national retailers will participate in our scrip program. Such local businesses include Casey’s (3%), Slumberland (5%), Freeman’s Buffet (10%), Payless Shoes (13%), Menards (3 – 4%) and more are being added daily! National retailers include Eddie Bauer (9%), Cabela’s (11%), Applebee’s (8%), Marriott Hotels (12%), American Airlines (16%), Carnival Cruises (8%) and many, many others.

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple – scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to Sacred Heart at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school/church keeps the difference as revenue. Scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

• You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…
• Both you and Sacred Heart will earn a source of revenue that could be used toward tuition, tuition assistance, and the general fund!!

You and your family will be the engine into how well this program will work. From your scrip purchases 50% of the profits generated will be credited to your families tuition and 50% will be credited to Sacred Heart Scrip. Some planning will be needed on your part, knowing how much you spend on essentials on a weekly basis.

For example: In one week you purchase $100 of groceries, $30 in gas for your automobile, and spend $10 at a restaurant.

This program is not just for your family either; everyone can participate whether it is grandparent or your neighbors or coworkers. If you had several other participants supporting your family in the Scrip program, you could generate a lot of income in one year!

 We are very excited to begin this program, and our only hope is that you as a family will make this program work. Simply complete the enclosed enrollment form and you can fill out your first order. Local businesses will continue to be added to our program, see the businesses currently participating on the following order form – we have been in contact will all the local businesses. Frequently Asked Questions About SCRIP

Q: Where can I use the gift cards?

• A: All over the U.S. by businesses of the same name (for example, Best Buy)

Q: How long are they good for?

• A: One to two years for most cards, and they debit down as you use them. To see if a national scrip business has any exclusions go www.glscrip.com.

Q: Can I have my orders sent to me?

• A: Yes, if you send a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Remember, the cards are heavier than paper, so save enough postage on the envelope.

Q: When are my scrip orders due?

• A: Scrip orders are due at the school by 9:00 am on Fridays. Delivery of all Scrip orders will be on the following Friday.

Q: Can I have other people order and still receive the tuition?

• A: Yes, the more people you involve, the more money you will have for tuition for your family.

Q: Can I copy the order form?

• A: Yes. A new order form will also be returned with your orders or you can download one here to print yourself.

Q: When will I get a print-out of what I have saved for tuition?

A: In June we will give you a print-out, then twice a year.

 Q: Is the tuition paid from Scrip tax deductible?

A: No. The tuition paid from Scrip is not tax deductible. You are receiving a dollar to dollar value for the Scrip you purchase. The Scrip money that you receive towards your tuition is a “bonus” that you have received from the businesses.
