The purposes of the organization are to participate in the religious, charitable and educational Apostolates of the Church. Catholic Daughters of the Americas engage in creative and spiritual programs which provide its members with the opportunity to develop their God-given talents in meaningful ways that positively influence the welfare of the Church and all people throughout the world. Catholic Daughters of the Americas strive to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
Founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Daughters of the Americas has flourished under the motto of “Unity and Charity.” One of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas, the organization has over 75,000 members from 1,250 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country, and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam, Peru, Kenya and the Virgin Islands. The state of Iowa established Catholic Daughters in 1913 and currently has 68 local courts with a membership of nearly 5,400 members.
CDA Court Sacred Heart # 408 was established October 18, 1919. We currently have 60 members and are continuing to grow!
Any woman age 18+ of the Catholic faith who wishes to belong may join Catholic Daughters, and is invited to come to any of our Sacred Heart Court 408 meetings!
Our meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM. We do not meet in June, July or August. Each meeting begins with a meal followed by a program and the business meeting.
